Search Engine Reports
October, 2005 10/21/05: Yahoo Search Marketing eliminates minimum monthly spend of $20. 10/13/05: Google and Comcast negotiate with Time Warner for a stake in AOL. Yahoo and Microsoft are also said to be interested. 10/7/05: Google releases Google Reader, an RSS feed, in beta version. Reviewers find it buggy. 10/7/05: Google Adwords builds upon the functionality they began offering in May, 2005, with site targeting by allowing section and page targeting. This allows the advertiser to specify exactly where their ads will appear. 10/1/05: Google bids to provide free wireless Internet connection to San Francisco users. This indicates a move into telecommunications that could solidify Google's position in search by making Google the default search engine for those who connect through its services. Some speculate that this could also provide Google the opportunity to monitor that traffic to improve its understanding of user behavior.
