Search Engine Reports
April, 2006 4/26/06: At last! You can find out what you did to hurt your site's positioning in Google. If your website fell out of sight after your last update, you can log in to your Google Sitemaps account and find out what the problem is. That is, sometimes. Not everyone will receive a notification. And certainly, sites using black hat tactics should not expect anything from Google here. 4/19/06: Don't dismay if you stop seeing as many Googlebots recorded in your server logs as before. Google has updating its methods of spidering websites in an attempt to make their indexing activity more efficient. In theory, at least, it should only apply to Adsense sites, and should not affect positioning. 4/7/06: Ebay now has some real competition (and you have another way of promoting your business) in Google Base. Some Google search results pages now include a form that allows the user to query the Google (data)Base for jobs, cars, houses, and products by location. Payment can be handled through Google's payment processor. 4/5/06: Google Adwords makes it possible for users to specify the positions in which their ads should appear. 4/3/06: AOL introduces a new feature to Mobile Search that makes web pages easier to read on small screens.
