Google account owners may notice, when they log in and search, that Google is returning increasingly personalized results, influenced by information from new sources - the user's click-through history, bookmarks, widgets, etc. By now, website owners should know better than to focus on optimizing for a handful of phrases in a single engine. If not, this splintering should provide the impetus to abandon that approach.

Now you can sidestep the incomplete information hitherto provided by Google's "link" command by logging in to Google Webmaster Central to see who's linking to your site.

AdWords advertisers may now stop and start the display of individual ads, ads triggered by a specific key phrase, and those that appear on specific sites.

Google Adwords has begun beta testing on a cost-per-click (CPC) payment scheme for advertisers who display their ads on specific sites. Currently, advertisers who use site targeting pay on a cost-per-thousand-impression (CPM) basis.

Google has begun to include Google Checkout icons in AdSense ads run by advertisers who accept that method of payment. This may increase click-through to those sites, resulting in more revenue for ad publishers, advertisers, and, of course, Google.

It is now possible to manually remove a URL from yahoo's index using Yahoo Site Explorer.

Microsoft introduces Live Search for Mobile.
