October, 2007 Google Adwords announces penalties for comparison shopping sites, travel aggregators, and low-quality affiliate and eBook sites, who will be "encouraged" to improve their offerings by the increased cost of running pay-per-click campaigns on sites whose Quality Scores have been be lowered. Google Adwords introduces interactive ads such as videos, games, data feeds, etc.; these Gadget Ads can be published through AdSense. Publishers of websites designed for viewing through mobile devices such as cell phones may now publish Adsense ads on those sites. Microsoft quadruples the size of its index and improves its offerings in local, shopping, health and entertainment search. Shopping searches may now trigger the display of photos, user reviews and shopping guides. Local searches will now include alternate routes, real-time conditions, and one-click directions. All searches should better interpret misspellings and other variations of standard usage.
