Search Engine Reports
September, 2008 Google updated the HTML on their search results page, temporarily breaking rank checking software. Longer and alternative phrases may get more traffic from Google users as Google phases "Google Suggest" into its mainstream search results. "Google Suggest" displays a number of mostly-longer alternative phrases in response to a query entered to the search box. Google Adwords will now calculate the Quality Score of your ad every time it's displayed, not just when you launch or revise your campaign. This is intended to display the ad at times when it's most relevant, which will be more cost-efficient for advertisers. Adwords will no longer render low-volume keywords "inactive." It will be up to the advertiser to pause or delete an effectively "inactive" phrase. Probably as a result of its DoubleClick acquisition, Adsense now allows advertisers to cap the number of times a user sees an ad; to know how many people have seen an ad, how many times, and how many clicked through on an ad. Yahoo Site Explorer has been updated so that webmasters of dynamic sites can now "tell" it to ignore up to 10 parameters, instead of 3, as in the past.
