Perhaps the least glamorous role in web design, marketing and development is that of project manager. A successful one is barely recognized, because it's their job simply to make sure things go as they should, yet a disorganized project manager can bring a project to a grinding halt.

A project manager divides up the job, assigns work to various people (programming, graphic design, HTML, copy writing, search engine optimization, pay-per-click, etc.), sets a schedule for completion of each part of the job, an overall deadline for completion of the entire project, and follows up with each person throughout the course of their work and as their deadline approaches to make sure the work will be done on time. If unavoidable delays occur, the project manager must adjust the schedule and communicate changes to the client and the team. Last but not least, the project manager serves as a point person for the client to provide input, feedback, and other information.
