Prices
When pricing any job, I take four things into account:
-
the site owner's plans and goals
-
the strengths and weaknesses of the existing site
-
cost-effectiveness of potential solutions
-
the budget the owner has to work with.
Hourly rates can only go so
far in helping you get an idea of how much the work will cost, but they
may be useful as a baseline comparison with other web design and marketing vendors. More helpful
may be the following sample estimates. These are not "packages" you can
choose. They are sample estimates that may help give you an idea of what a
typical job might cost. Remember, it is always possible to begin with a
small job, let it pay for itself, and come back for more later on. For web design
prices specific to your needs, please

Sample Estimates
Minimal Job at Standard Rates
A small business owner whose static, six page website is "friendly" to
search engines at the code level and needs no web design services per se, only search engine optimization
services, might expect to pay $500 for initial consulting, which serves as
a roadmap to the entire job; $1800 to optimize the website for 20 key
phrases; and $700 for submission to search engines, for a total of $3,000.
The search engine submission fee varies as the number of relevant search
engines rises and falls; these days, it takes less time because the
human-edited directories are less important.

of SEO in the website (or just $700 if they have an in-house webmaster who
can work from a template); and $700 for submission to search engines, for

which serves as a roadmap to the entire job (this cost may be deducted if
the next item - a web marketing report - is included); $2975 for a comprehensive web marketing
plan; $1000 for consulting specific to removing architectural and
code-level obstructions and optimizing the website structurally for
inclusion and positioning in search engines; $6250 to optimize the
website for 70 key phrases; $775 for an HTML template their in-house
webmaster can use when including SEO in the website; $700 for submission
